11th Annual International Banquet for the Persecuted Church – A Great Event!

Thanks to the grace of our Lord, the persecuted church banquet was a resounding success. This was our first banquet to be held on the campus of another church, and the Lord blessed it in special ways. Our friends at Calvary Chapel Living Word in Irvine opened their hearts to us as well as their large sanctuary, which they set up with tables for the event. Kim Hensley, of Calvary Chapel Living Word, is a volunteer with Open Doors, as I am, and she worked very hard to help me organize this important event. Open Doors calls us Bridgebuilders, and truly bridges were being built on May 18, not only between all of us and the worldwide persecuted church, but also between the approximately 10 churches who participated in the event!

Our speaker Pete Stohlman of Voice of the Martyrs was a stellar speaker! Our hearts were stirred and prayers lifted up for the worldwide persecuted church, and our chefs from three different churches delivered international cuisine worthy of the best restaurants in incredibly variety. I am so thankful to everyone who contributed their time and talents for this important event (too numerous to list here, but you know who you are)! Everyone had a great time, and we were able to raise $3,067 to help families of martyrs around the world who have literally lost everything for the sake of Jesus. Thank you so much for your generosity in supporting our suffering brothers and sisters in Christ!

Pete sent me a beautiful thank you card and asked me to thank all of you. Here are his gracious words:

“If I might impose upon your love for Christ one more time, may I ask you to please take pains to convey my deep gratitude and tender affection for my new families at St. James Anglican and Calvary Chapel Living Word. All of you made me feel so very welcome and at home. With thanksgiving to God for you, Pete, the Voice of the Martyrs.”
